If Christianity Is True,

Then why Do So Many Intelligent People

Not Believe It?

 

I heard Greg Koukl mention this challenging statement as one that he has heard. Here is his very simple answer:

“The reason so many intelligent people don’t believe that Christianity is true is the same reason that so many not so intelligent people don’t believe it!”

Think about Nazi Germany, and how so many intelligent people believed Hitler! Both not-so-intelligent and intelligent people have beliefs, motivations, and biases.  Intelligence is not the only determining factor as to whether or not someone believes something.  The beliefs of most persons are determined by a person's worldview, as indicated in that section of this guide.  Beliefs are also determined by how each person uses their intelligence, if they will openly consider all the evidence, and then consider where the evidence logically leads that determines the accuracy of a belief.
